BLESS Every Home Devo Day 21 - September 15

This is the DAY the Lord has made; let’s rejoice and be glad in it! Are you looking forward to worship as a church family? Let’s set our hearts on H.E.A.R. (ing) from the Lord as we prayerfully read the O.T. book of Jeremiah, chapter 29. (the text of today’s sermon)
  • H. – highlight – i.e. Prayerfully take time to highlight or underline the words or phrases that stick out most to you.
  • E. – explain - Thoughtfully write out in your own words what you understand and why it’s significant.
  • A. – apply – i.e. – consider ways this passage connects to your life.
  • R. – respond – i.e. – prayerful response with your heart to the Word for transformation.

Write your responses to your H.E.A.R. prompts and discuss with a near one or group. Look for opportunities ‘to do the book’ in your daily traffic patterns.

The B.L.E.S.S. strategy will be introduced in today’s sermon; let’s ZOOM INTO V. 7 as a key text for this series – “Pursue the well-being of the city I have deported you to. Pray to the Lord on its behalf, for when it thrives, you will thrive.”

The Lord instructs the people in Jeremiah’s day to ‘Pray for Babylon.’ This was their place of exile; This is a good reminder for us in the New Covenant that we are ‘strangers and exiles’ in the earthly places we live, for our ‘citizenship is in heaven’ (Philippians 3: 20). As in the Old Testament, we are to prayerfully pursue the well-being of the city where we currently live. (i.e. – our neighborhood, location).
