HOPE. We all need it! It has been well said, “Man can live about 40 days without food, about 3 days without water, about 8 minutes without air, but only 1 second without hope.” Amen or ‘Oh me?’ How are your feelings of expectation or strong desire for something good to happen? Over the next several weeks, let’s pray for hope to increase within us as we devote ourselves to the Gospel of Luke, chapters 1 & 2. HOPE HAS A NAME is the sermon theme for this month.
On this Saturday, let’s prayerfully read Luke chapter 1, verses 1 – 25; giving special attention to vs. 1 – 4. Dr. Luke is the author of this Gospel; he was a travel companion of the apostle Paul on many of the first missionary journeys in the 1st Century. He gives the reason WHY he is writing this letter; let’s highlight the reasons in the following verses:
HOPE is found in the certainty, validity, and trustworthiness of God’s Word. Our hope as followers of Jesus is the confident expectation that God will fulfill every single promise He’s made. It’s an assurance that anticipates the conclusion of God’s redemptive plan
PRAYER PROMPT: (Hold God’s Word near your heart) Abba Father, thank You for the eternal Word of God You have given us with certainty that I may have confident hope. As I read Your Word each new day, may hope rise in my heart – knowing You who promised are faithful. One promise of Your Word I am humbly anticipating to be fulfilled in my life is ____________________________(pause to insert God’s promise). I hold Your Word tightly in my heart, for I humbly pray in the name of Jesus, Amen!

- Compile a ____________________ about the events fulfilled among us.
- The events about Jesus were from __________________________.
- Luke carefully _______________________ all the events from the first.
- Luke is writing an orderly sequence, so we may know the __________________of the events we know about Jesus.
