Let’s prayerfully read & reflect on the Gospel of Luke, chapter 1, verses 26 – 45, giving special attention to Vs.31 – 33.
IMAGINE being with Mary as she receives this message from the angel:
PAUSE & MEDITATE – HOPE has a Name. What is it? __________________ Say it aloud, “JESUS!”
Jesus is the HOPE of Israel’s Messiah – i.e. – He fulfilled hundreds of years of prophecies from Genesis to Malachi in the Old Testament. Jesus would establish the New Covenant through His life, death, resurrection & ascension back to heaven.
PRAYER PROMPT: Lord, as I show up in Your Presence this morning, I celebrate the HOPE You have given by Your grace and mercy. The name of Your HOPE is JESUS! I bless you for how You have changed me from hopelessness to a state of confident expectation in Your faithfulness and goodness. I pray You will give me an opportunity today to share with ones in my traffic patterns the ‘hope within me,’ for I humbly pray in Jesus’ name, Amen!
PRAY – as our church serves in the ‘Sarasota Christmas Parade,’ providing snacks and water to all the parade participants. We desire to be the hands and feet of Jesus, leading people to know Him and live like Him.
IMAGINE being with Mary as she receives this message from the angel:
- V.31 – What is so startling about this message? She is a virgin and will give birth to _____________ (consider what it means to be a virgin, i.e. sexual purity)
- V. 32 – 33 – What is so special about this son who will be born to Mary? ____________________________________.
