Hope has a Name Devo Day 10 - December 9

Let’s prayerfully read & reflect in the Gospel of Luke, chapter 1, verses 26 – 45 (once again for repetition and deeper meditation) , giving special attention to Vs.38.

What would be Mary’s response to the divine assignment to give birth to the Messiah, the Hope of the world?
“See, I am the Lord’s servant,” said Mary. “May it happen to me as you have said.” Then the angel left her.

Can you say, “Wow?” Oh yeah, this is an awesome encounter from heaven, and Mary’s response is one of surrender, faith, and a yielded heart to be a living part of God’s plan to save the world.

PAUSE & CONSIDER – What hard thing is the Lord asking you do to do? Maybe it is the calling of Jesus –  “If anyone wants to follow after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow me.” (Luke 9: 23). Maybe it is to end a toxic relationship or to step forward by faith to boldly share the Gospel with your neighbor… Or Maybe it is to offer a sincere apology to someone you have wronged.

Will you lead your heart to say to the Lord what Mary did –
“See, I am the Lord’s servant! May it happen to me as You have said.”

HOPE could be summed up in the acrostic –
H. – having
O. – only
P. – positive
E. – expectations

HOPE begins the moment we surrender our selfish will to God’s Word.
