Let’s prayerfully read & reflect on the Gospel Luke chapter 2, verses 1 – 20 (once again for meditation & even memorization), giving special attention to verses 15 – 20.
PUT YOURSELF IN THIS TEXT; ask – What difference did the good news of a Savior’s arrival make for the shepherds?
PAUSE & CONSIDER – Similar to the shepherds in the 1st century, you have ‘seen, heard & worshipped’ Jesus, God’s indescribable gift.
PUT YOURSELF IN THIS TEXT; ask – What difference did the good news of a Savior’s arrival make for the shepherds?
- V.15 – the Shepherds said to one another, “Let’s ______ to Bethlehem and see..”
- V. 16 – they “hurried off and found _________, _________________ and the __________ lying the manger” (Imagine the scene!)
- V. 17 – “After seeing, they ______________ the message the angels told them about this child.” …… What was the message? – look back to Vs.10-11.
- V.18 – “all who heard the shepherds’ report were ___________ .” Why do you think this occurred? (Come on, use your sanctified imagination!) _________________________.
- V.20 – the shepherds returned to the fields “________________ & praising God for all the things they had ______ & heard.” (This is the 1st Christmas worship service!)
PAUSE & CONSIDER – Similar to the shepherds in the 1st century, you have ‘seen, heard & worshipped’ Jesus, God’s indescribable gift.
- Express your heart to God for the joy you have found in Him. (Go ahead, get happy in Jesus). Give Him glory for the many ways He has given you grace.
- Prayerfully consider WHO you can share the wonders of His love this Christmas season.
