Let’s continue the words of Malachi 1: 11 to dwell richly in us - “My name will be great among the nations, from the rising of the sun to its setting. Incense and pure offerings will be presented in my name in every place because my name will be great among the nations,” says the Lord of Armies.
Today let’s prayerfully read & reflect on the New Testament book of Colossians chapter 3 as we seek to worship the Lord “in Spirit and truth.” What text in this chapter highlights what it means to ‘worship the Father in truth’? How would this apply to our lives?
ZOOM INTO Vs. 16 – “Let the word of Christ dwell richly among you, in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another through psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.”
“the Word of Christ” – i.e. – the truth of God revealed in Christ. Think about it – the written Word of God points to the Living Word of God, our Lord Jesus Christ.
To “worship in Spirit and truth” – means to be “filled with the Spirit” and filled with the Word of God. It’s amazing how much of God’s Word we declare each week in our songs of worship!
“To worship in truth” requires us to “let word of Christ in all its richness fill our lives.” How can we experience this? By daily abiding in the Word – i.e. reading, reflecting, journaling our impressions and prayers, & memorizing the Word.
THINK MORE DEEPLY ABOUT THIS: What Bible verse or story causes You to sing a song of praise? (Maybe the resurrection of Jesus or the account of Creation?) _________________.
PRAYER PROMPT: “Lord, as I think of Your Word of truth and remember the verse / story of _________________________________, my heart is filled with _________________________. I worship You in truth with a humble heart, In Jesus’ name, Amen!”
