Now Is The Time Devotional - January 22

NOW IS THE TIME to heal and strengthen relationships. How do we do this? Let’s prayerfully read and reflect on the New Testament book of Ephesians chapter 4, What stands out as a highlight from this chapter? How would you explain the highlight to a friend? How might you apply God’s Word to your life?

Let’s ZERO INTO Vs. 26–27 –“Be angry and do not sin., Don’t let the sun go down on your anger, and don’t give the devil an opportunity.”
  • This text addresses what is common in our relationships – conflict or a.k.a. ‘intense moments of fellowship.’
  • What are you instructed to do when you feel anger?

    • Ignore the problem & hope it gets better. NO!
    • Tell the person how angry you are. NO!
    • Go to bed and sleep on it? NO! It never gets better & the warning is “it will give the devil an opportunity” to hurt the relationship more.
    • RIGHT ANSWER – “Don’t let the sun go down on your anger” i.e. – resolve conflict according to God’s way.
  • HOW?

    • “When you mess up, fess up.”
    • 1st – Confess your sin and hurt to God. – 1 John 1: 9
    • Next – Confess your faults to one another – James 5: 16
    • Then – ‘Forgive one another’ – Eph. 4: 32 – i.e. – release, let go of the offense as God has forgiven you.

PRAYER PROMPT: Heavenly Father, I really desire good, wholesome relationships that grow Your way. I pray for a recent conflict with ____________________________. Strengthen me as I speak to this one words of an apology . Prompt me to give first; Heal and strengthen our relationship, for I humbly pray in Jesus’ name, Amen!
