Read & Reflect
Let’s prayerfully read Galatians 4 (Repetition leads to deeper meditation).
Paul uses Sarah and Hagar as an allegory to contrast living under the law (slavery) versus living by faith in Christ(freedom).
Galatians 4:31 – “Therefore, brothers and sisters, we are not children of the slave but of the free woman.”
Father,
Thank You for making me a child of promise, not of slavery. I confess that at times I rely on my own efforts instead of resting in Your grace. Help me to fully embrace the freedom I have in Christ, trusting in Your promises and living by faith.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Galatians 4:31 – “Therefore, brothers and sisters, we are not children of the slave but of the free woman.”
- What does this teach us about freedom in Christ?
- Hagar (slave woman) represents the old covenant—living under the law, striving for righteousness through human effort.
- Sarah (free woman) represents the new covenant—living by faith, receiving righteousness as a gift through Christ.
- As believers, we are children of the promise, not of slavery—we are free in Christ!
- Do you sometimes live as if you are still in spiritual slavery, trying to earn God’s approval?
- How does this passage remind you to rest in God’s grace and walk in the freedom Christ has given you?
