Galatians Devotional - March 7

Read & Reflect
Let’s prayerfully read Galatians 5 (Repetition leads to deeper meditation).
  • Does any new highlight stand out to you?
  • How would you explain this to a friend?
  • What application might this have in your life?
Zoom Into Galatians 5:19-26
Paul contrasts the works of the flesh with the fruit of the Spirit.
Galatians 5:22-23 – “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. The law is not against such things.”
  • The evidence of the Spirit in our lives is seen in the fruit we bear.
  • The works of the flesh lead to division, impurity, and self-centered living.
  • The fruit of the Spirit is the outflow of a life surrendered to God.
Reflection Questions:
  • Where do you see evidence of the Spirit’s fruit in your life?
  • Which fruit of the Spirit do you need to ask God to cultivate more?
  • Are there areas of your heart where the works of the flesh still show up? How can you surrender those to God?
Prayer
Father,
I desire to walk by Your Spirit and bear fruit that reflects Your love and character. Grow in me the fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Help me to recognize and turn away from the works of the flesh, and instead, live a life that brings honor to You.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Action Step
  • Choose one fruit of the Spirit to focus on today.
  • Intentionally practice it in your interactions with others.
  • Pray for God to cultivate it in your heart.
  • Encourage someone else by pointing out how you see the fruit of the Spirit in their life.
  • Which fruit will you focus on growing today?
