A Day of Worship & Reflection
“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” – Psalm 118:24
As we gather for worship at SBC, we continue in our sermon series WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?
Today’s sermon: I AM DEPENDENT, NO LONGER INDEPENDENT
Let’s prayerfully read Galatians 5 (Repetition leads to deeper meditation).
Write a short prayer or journal entry about what it means to walk in freedom and how you want to live in the Spirit moving forward.
Encounter Jesus: Sitting at His Feet
“Mary . . . sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what He said.” – Luke 10:39
Pause and allow the Holy Spirit to bring an image of Jesus to your mind and heart.
“You have chosen well.”
Prayer: A Heart that Listens
Lord,
Like Mary, I want to sit at Your feet, listening to Your voice rather than being distracted by busyness. Teach me to be dependent on You, not on my own strength. I choose to walk by the Spirit, trusting that You will guide me in love, joy, peace, and faithfulness.
Speak, Lord, for Your servant is listening.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Action Step: A Life of Dependence

Today’s sermon: I AM DEPENDENT, NO LONGER INDEPENDENT
Let’s prayerfully read Galatians 5 (Repetition leads to deeper meditation).
- Does any new highlight stand out to you?
- How would you explain this to a friend?
- What application might this have in your life?
- What has God revealed to you about walking in freedom and the Spirit?
- Are you learning to rely on Him daily rather than striving on your own?
- How has your understanding of the fruit of the Spirit deepened?
- Have you sensed areas where you need to be more dependent on God?
Write a short prayer or journal entry about what it means to walk in freedom and how you want to live in the Spirit moving forward.
Encounter Jesus: Sitting at His Feet
“Mary . . . sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what He said.” – Luke 10:39
Pause and allow the Holy Spirit to bring an image of Jesus to your mind and heart.
- Picture Him retreating from rejection, finding refuge in Bethany at the home of His dear friends.
- Imagine Mary quietly sitting before Him, listening intently, while Martha busies herself with distractions.
- Hear Jesus’ affirmation: “Mary has chosen what is better.” – Luke 10:42
- Imagine you have an opportunity to be with Jesus.
- Move to a quiet place, bow your heart, and simply listen.
- Do not speak; just be still.
- Allow the Savior to share His heart with you.
“You have chosen well.”

Action Step: A Life of Dependence
- Throughout the week, pause before making decisions and ask, “Lord, what are You saying to me?”
- Practice stillness—carve out intentional time to simply be with Jesus.
- Let go of self-reliance and lean into the Holy Spirit’s leading.
- How will you live more dependent on God this week?
