Galatians Devotional - March 16

Our sermon series WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?, based on the book of Galatians, comes to an exciting culmination today at SBC Church!
In preparation for today’s message, let’s prayerfully reflect on Galatians 4-6 and celebrate the truth that I AM A NEW CREATION—our identity in Christ.
Engage with Galatians 4-6
  • Galatians 4: Paul reminds us that we are no longer slaves but children of God. What does it mean for you to live as a child of God rather than as a slave to fear or legalism?
  • Galatians 5: We are called to walk by the Spirit rather than by the flesh. What areas of your life need to be more surrendered to the Holy Spirit?
  • Galatians 6: Paul encourages us to boast only in the cross and reminds us that we reap what we sow. What are you sowing into your spiritual life?
Zoom Into 2 Corinthians 5:17
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, and see, the new has come!” – 2 Corinthians 5:17 (CSB)
Your identity is not in your past, your failures, or your performance—you are a new creation in Christ! How does this truth change the way you view yourself and your future?
The Power of the New Birth – John 3
Jesus told Nicodemus:
“Truly I tell you, unless someone is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” – John 3:3 (CSB)
Being a new creation isn’t just about change—it’s about transformation. The Holy Spirit gives us new life, new desires, and a new purpose in Christ.
Reflection
  • Where in your life do you need to embrace your new identity rather than holding onto old patterns?
  • How does understanding that you are a new creation empower you to live differently today?
Prayer
Lord, thank You that I am a new creation in You. Help me to walk in the freedom of my identity in Christ, leaving behind the old and embracing the new life You have given me. Fill me with Your Spirit and guide me in Your truth. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
  • What does being a "new creation" mean for you today?
  • How will you walk in your identity in Christ?
