Position Title: Production Director

Job Overview

The Production (AVL) Director is responsible for the setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of audio, video, and lighting systems throughout Sarasota Baptist Church. This role requires good communication and flexibility in work hours, as events occur at various times, and reliability is key to ensuring services, meetings, and events begin on time.

Key Responsibilities
1. Event Support:
• Set up and operate AVL systems for funerals, weddings, ministry events, outside groups, and special events.
• Provide AV support for classes and midweek activities.
• Prepare, set up, and assist with audio and video needs for rehearsals.
• Troubleshoot and solve technical issues as they arise during services and events.

2. System Operation & Maintenance:
• Operate and maintain systems (AVL) across four key areas: Worship Center, Auditorium, Student Center, and Kids Center.
• Ensure all AVL systems are functional and ready for services, including regular system checks and start-ups.
• Assist with system shutdowns following events and rehearsals.

3. Technical Expertise:
• Operate Allen and Heath Digital Sound Consoles, ProPresenter Software, Pro Tools Software, and Vista by ChromaQ Lighting Software and Consoles.
• Perform software and firmware updates when applicable.
• Understand sound system setup, connectivity, and basic troubleshooting for AVL systems.
• Run cables (audio, HDMI, data, electrical) when needed and handle equipment such as speakers, lighting fixtures, and stands.

4. Volunteer Support & Training:
• Assist with training new AV volunteers and supplement the volunteer team as needed during services and events.
• Monitor the quality of live-streamed audio and video during Sunday services.
• Communicate with volunteers and staff regularly through Planning Center Online, personal meetings, phone calls, and other online communication tools.

5. Equipment Management:
• Keep inventory of AVL equipment, ensuring all items are in good working order.
• Manage equipment repairs, including recognizing when items need replacement.
• Maintain and replace batteries for keyboards, communication systems, surge protectors, and backup units.

6. Special Events & Seasonal Setup:
• Handle AVL setups for outdoor events, including beach baptisms, student events, and seasonal services like Christmas and Easter.
• Prepare and clear the stage for special events.

7. Communication & Coordination
• Communicate clearly and consistently with church staff and volunteers to ensure all events and services run smoothly.

Skills & Qualifications
• Strong knowledge of Apple computer systems.
• Experience with digital sound consoles, lighting systems, and AVL software
• Basic understanding of sound systems and equipment connectivity.
• Ability to troubleshoot technical issues under pressure.
• Strong attention to detail, reliability, and flexibility with time management.
• Capable of managing multiple tasks and supporting events with varying schedules.

Additional Responsibilities
• Upload the Pastor's weekly sermon to YouTube.
• Sort and organize AVL equipment for repairs, replacements, or upgrades.
• Assist with the care and maintenance of musical instruments, including drums and percussion.
